{etsy} lucky me beads

Love this idea: custom silhouettes. Send a profile photo to Lucky Me Beads and she will customize depending on the size and style of the vintage pendant ring you choose. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I think it’s sweet to wear your lover’s silhouette next to your heart when it looks as classy as this. If your guy is the kind of guy who wears necklaces, medals and such (i.e. johnny depp) you could have a tiny silhouette made for him to wear around his neck along with his other sentimental charms. You could even exchange silhouettes, kind of like an old-fashioned keepsake (didn’t people exchange cameos back in the day??) So perfect for long distance lovers or best friends who are moving far away or even a beautiful remembrance of someone who has passed who you want to keep close to your heart. Lucky backs them with antique sheet music, book pages or prints, so I bet you could send her the paper backing you want (like the piece of a specific memento.) Lucky can even make one of your furry beast. I just love this idea.

Today, Etsy’s hand-picked items featured this sweet robin’s egg vessel by Alina Hayes, and then I clicked over to her shop and found this lovely pale blue bottle. Love her fusion of nature and modern design. See her etsy ceramic shop here and her blog here.

Two more enchanting photos found in Equivoque’s Etsy shop. These were taken with a Polaroid SX-70 – a camera that was recently, and very kindly, gifted to me by an old friend. I’m excited to start experimenting with Le Polaroid for myself!

nest

graceartnest.jpg

Etsy featured this sweet little nest on their homepage today. It was crafted using native grasses, handmade paper, moss and grapevines. The eggs are beach stones. Of all the nests I’ve seen in various shops, this is by far the most wild and lovely. Grace Art and Antiques on etsy has a few different versions of these nests for sale.

{etsy} paulette edition

irisschwarz.jpg

irisschwarz2.jpg

Iris Schwarz’s tea soaked drawings have a quaint, old-world flair that immediately caught my eye. Her Etsy profile is just as charming… My name is Iris Schwarz. Paulette Edition is my label. I’m an illustrator and graphic designer, working and living with my husband in Zurich, close to the lake in an old house, I must say it’s quite romantic… Old things are my passion (sometimes I think I’m born in the wrong century…), the charisma of old illustrated books, antique furniture (i love to restore them, if I just had some more time…), paper, fabric always inspires me… but of course for all that I couldn’t be without my (very modern) iMac, printer and scanner!

Wondercabinet
fuses botanicals, animals, crustaceans and insects into fanciful chimeras. (I like how she blends/bleeds multiple colors in the same screen print.)

A Rabbit as King of the Ghosts

rbtkng.jpg

A Rabbit as King of the Ghosts
(by Wallace Stevens)

The difficulty to think at the end of day,
When the shapeless shadow covers the sun
And nothing is left except light on your fur—

There was the cat slopping its milk all day,
Fat cat, red tongue, green mind, white milk
And August the most peaceful month.

To be, in the grass, in the peacefullest time,
Without that monument of cat,
The cat forgotten in the moon;

And to feel that the light is a rabbit-light,
In which everything is meant for you
And nothing need be explained;

Then there is nothing to think of. It comes of itself;
And east rushes west and west rushes down,
No matter. The grass is full

And full of yourself. The trees around are for you,
The whole of the wideness of night is for you,
A self that touches all edges,

You become a self that fills the four corners of night.
The red cat hides away in the fur-light
And there you are humped high, humped up,

You are humped higher and higher, black as stone—
You sit with your head like a carving in space
And the little green cat is a bug in the grass.

moonswallow

Latest Etsy crush: Moonswallow. Somewhere between Story People and Anne Bachelier. (I found her while looking for bulls on Etsy.)

mnswll3.jpg

Through fragrant limbs
I wander
and wait
within her wooded walls
for the resonance
to fill me
like a gong
resounding dreamings
drawn from the Earth
with roots
diving deep
into her being

I bought a horse on Etsy. I look at him and see peace and beauty. “Kings Ransom Spanish Horse Andalusian” is an oil painting from KF Collection’s shop.
