blog cleaning

Experimenting here with a cleaner look for cherry. The stuff that’s usually in the margins is now at the bottom of the page – it was gumming up the place. There are still adjustments to be made to my categories and archives, which are displaying as lists rather than posts for the time being. If you notice something is loading funny, or not working quite right, or if the pink at the bottom of the page burns your retinas (because I think it burnt mine), please let me know!

{photographer} lina scheynius

dreamandawake06qw1.jpg

I first came across Lina Scheynius’ photos as part of the experiment, The Ones We Love where young, talented photographers were asked to take six photos of their ‘most important person’ in an outdoor setting. (Definitely, go check it out. It’s inspiring.) Today, I came across this spread of Lina’s work on Foto Decadent. Her photos are softly lit moments in time – natural, moody, intimate, borderline voyeuristic. This one reminds me of the trapped Lisbon sisters from The Virgin Suicides or the album cover for Au Revoir Simone (minus one Simone) that never was.

Update: more of Lina’s beautiful photos are now posted here.

blog love

Why I continue to appreciate The Sartorialist:

So cool to see photographs of real women who are older than 21, individualists, and still drop dead gorgeous.

springtime fantasy

debitreloar.jpg

Despire to Inspire posted this room designed by Debi Treloar – the English country getaway of my bohemian fantasies where I’d dump all my books (the ones gathered on my pilgrimage) and spend the weekends nose-in-book or taking long, wet walks along the moors in my Wellingtons.

Yet another whimsical Tim Walker photo found on Catherine Campbell’s lovely blog, My Folk Lover, (which was also found on my love for you is a stampede of horses.)

I’m a huge fan of Su Blackwell’s whimsical book sculptures and was thrilled to find that my love for you is a stampede of horses had recently interviewed Su and included some great pics of Su’s work.

If you’re intrigued by Su’s fantastical paper world, be sure to watch this stop motion animated commercial using Su’s sculptures.

the “sussurus lux”

susslux.jpg

What a name, what a chandelier. Who makes these?? These glowing tenacles would be a cozy addition to the corner of my bedroom if it didn’t cost 5700 bucks. Kind of reminds me of these jellyfish sculptures by Coe&waito found on Margo Pearson’s blog. I will definitely be snatching the name Sussurus Lux for future use.

(Found at Rian Rae discovered on decor8.)

Marveling over the Wee planets panoramic series by Alexandre Duret-Lutz. What a Borgesian world he creates!
