(Hey, I’m trying to keep things light over here. What I really wanted to post was this.)

My friend Bob sent this link because we’re both cArazy for Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent.) Watch her rock out like Hendrix as she covers “Dig a Pony” in front of the MFA in Boston.

(Most excellent photo of Annie in teal dress with red guitar taken by Ryan Dombal)

romancing the novel

Friends, readers, anybody out there, I’m in the middle of a reading glut and I need suggestions! There are 20 newish books sitting on my shelf, all of which I want to read at some point, but none of which are calling for me to crack their little spines. Autumn always puts me in a romantic mood and I need a novel to match. I’d love to find something all-consuming, a total escape. Here are a few of my favorite romances to get the wheels turning:

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (the entire series)
I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
The Passion by Jeanette Winterson
Thornbirds by Colleen Mccullough
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets by Eva Rice
Graceling by Kristin Cashore

If any of you have suggestions, I’d be much obliged to hear them. If you don’t have any book suggestions, I’ll take movie and TV series suggestions too. Even if you think I’ve already read/seen/watched, put it in the comments anyway! Maybe other people will get some good ideas. What lady doesn’t need some romance in their life once in awhile? (OK, all the time.) I’m open to fantasy, sci-fi, young adult, chic lit, classics, even a really well-written ‘romance’ with Fabio on the cover, whatever, as long as you thought it was pretty good! Tell me your faves…
