whip it
Two choice tracks off the Whip It soundtrack, which R.O.C.K.S. It’s good to be excited about a movie again. There was a dearth of good movies this summer.
“Pot Kettle Black” by Tilly & The Wall (who gave one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen.)
“Boys Wanna Be Her” – don’t watch (just listen) if you don’t want to see Peaches doing her thing and some hand banging bloody heads…

mildred’s lane

Go to Pia’s to read about Mildred’s Lane, a rustic yet fabulous artist’s colony in Northeastern Pennsylvania that its creator, J. Morgan Puett, compares to a little American Bloomsbury Group. You will see that she and her partner, Mark Dion, have made their colony a work of art in and of itself. Almost everything is reused, recycled or repurposed. Inspiring.

annie & andrew
Spent a lovely breakfast this morning in a Paris apartment listening to an intimate concert given by Andrew Bird – the highlight of which (for me) was Annie Clark singing “What Me Worry?” There seemed to be a little chemistry bubbling during their performance… the way he was eyeing her, Andrew looked a little smitten. And who wouldn’t be? Thank you so much for sending, Bob!
(Annie’s song begins on the fourth dot.)

rainbow warrior

Peter recently sent a lifetime worth of old negatives and slides to be scanned by a company in India who will scan all your archives, post them online and you only have to purchase half of them! So… I’ve been combing through all of Peter’s old photos making a list of pics I want him to print. I’ve been looking for a shot to put on the feng shui ‘wall of heath & well being’ (in the center of the house.) Ideally, the wall in the center of the home is supposed to have thriving, lush, vibrant, alive, colorful images. This one fits the bill. It was actually a double rainbow (taken in Ireland.) In fact, I’d say that 50% of the photos that I’ve fallen in love with were taken in Ireland. Pure magic and enchantment over on the green isle!

new leaf
I feel like these trees this morning – bright, green and grounded. Just back from a 10 day ‘living food’ detox retreat. Lots of meditation, contemplation, long walks, yoga, learning about body ecology and quality time spent with my (very cool) dad who came with me. It was a remarkable experience to eat only raw, living food for 10 days straight. Quite literally, I feel like a different person. I’m definitely on some other plane of consciousness right now. Wonder how long this will last (?)
*These pics are not from the retreat, but from a recent walk in the divine Henry Cowell State Park in Felton, CA. The retreat was near Ithaca, NY, but I decided not to take my camera with me as an exercise in just being and seeing without the distracting need to capture. No computer for 10 days as well. It was a detox on many levels :)
